What is LMS?

A management system that serves as the foundation of e-learning.
It is a client-server system that delivers educational material content to learners' Web browsers.
The system is equipped with the following functions.

Specifically, the server delivers pre-defined content to individual learners and stores their learning history in a database on the server. The learning history is stored in the LMS, allowing the learner to continue learning from the previous lesson the next time. The learning administrator can also view the learner's learning history. Some LMSs can automatically manage learning progress, for example, by sending e-mails to learners to encourage them to learn.
Recently, LMSs that also incorporate management functions for training operations, such as training registration, and LMSs that realize human resource development management, such as defining skill items based on the concept of competency management, diagnosing skills, and creating training curricula, have also appeared. In addition, there are examples of LMSs being used as part of corporate strategic systems that go beyond human resource development management by linking with knowledge management and HRM (Human Resource Management), and LMSs are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
